This kid is incredibly courageous for doing this. <3 I cried for his pain, for his strength, and for his future because he will take this world by storm and be the change and influence to help stop bullying. There are so many kids out there who feel like this everyday. Scared to go to school, hating themselves, and think that everyones life would be better without them in it.

What kind of society have we built? Where is the love? No one should feel like this, it doesn’t matter who you are. This boy is now an inspiration to millions. He will never know his impact on kids everywhere. I pray for his happiness and love, he deserves it, as does everyone. Stop the pain, stop the hate, stop anything that is damaging of love.

I find much enjoyment out of this cartoon. I also found lots of enjoyment during the Thanksgiving Break! Spending time with the family, no school for a couple of days, and TONS of real food. A person can only go so long eating only in the microwave and cafeteria food groups. Thanksgiving is really a blessing for college students. Did anyone else’s mom send them home with loads of leftover Thanksgiving dinner?! Mine sure did.

Thanksgiving is a time where we all should ponder and celebrate all of the things we are thankful for in our lives. Every year I realize how blessed I am to be living the life that I have. So many things to be thankful for that I take for granted. If we had half of the stuff we have and use everyday taken away, we wouldn’t be able to survive! But you look at countries around us who are suffering. Now think again about everything you are thankful for. I hope your list just quadrupled!

Anyway, I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! :]

Then we play! It’s tradition to have a cast party after a show opens! So thanks to the Fuja family, we had an amazing cast party! Lots of food, lots of pictures, lots of friends, and lots of memories made. Nothing better than that! As you can tell most of us still have our stage makeup on and look emotionally distraught, but don’t fret! We still had a good time!

Then of course, after closing night we all head to Applebee’s for dinner! We always go there to celebrate and obviously eat! On closing night our director, Suzie Balser, also informed us of who got chosen to go to the American College Theatre Festival (ACTF). All anxiously awaiting, she told us the good news. Dale Hoopes, Krystal Funk, and I, KelliAnn Johnson, were chosen to go. So, I would like to give a special congrats to the other two cast members! They are so talented and I am extremely proud and honored to be working with them.

I love my cast, and friends. They truly are amazing. :]

Behind the scenes of Flowers for Algernon! No one ever gets to see what happens backstage of WWCC’s plays and musicals. That’s why I’m here to tell you all about it! Obviously the entire cast isn’t on stage the whole play so we have to do something backstage right? You are correct. As you can see from the pictures above, the little girls in the production had the right idea. Play dough! Usually we just sit around and chit-chat when we aren’t on stage. It really isn’t all that exciting! :] It really is a good time, I love it!

Of course there is the preparation where we have to put on all of our makeup and costumes and such. There are some of my fellow cast members putting on there masks! And the girls dressing room. It gets really crowded and stinky in there, but what do you expect?! We’re working hard!

I really love these people so much. They work so hard and are all amazing. I wish I could even explain the inspiration all of them give to me. I am so blessed to be a part of this theatre program and I hope all of you enjoy what we have to share! <3

Harry Potter party?! Yes please. This was so much fun! Thanks to my awesome friend Tasha Newman we got to have a Harry Potter themed party. We had tons of snacks from the books, butterbeer, and games! I suggest that you try this with your friends! Seriously a blast.

We played “pin the scar on Harry,” and had a Quiditch tournament. How do you play Quiditch without flying? Easy. You just have to hold on to your broom and never let go. If anyone who didn’t know us would have walked into the theatre at the time they probably would have though we were a bunch of freaks, but we sure had a good time! Harry Potter lovers unite! :]

Talk about mixed feelings! So stressful yet SO exciting! You have an opportunity to show a director everything you have to give. You get to pick your favorite material and have an excuse to show off! Once you leave you think, “That show would be fun to be in, but I would be okay if I don’t get the part.” Then you get a call back and go through that process. You’re given a cold-read to make whatever interpretation out of it that you please. You’re feeling awesome and the new thought is, “I HAVE to get that part!” Then the waiting period between then and when the cast list is put up! AGONY!… Well now that I have ranted about my night, have a happy week everyone! :]

My fellow students, tonight the Theatre and Dance Department is presenting Flowers for Algernon. This is a beautiful story of a man trying to find happiness. It really is a touching story everyone should see! The students participating in this play have worked extremely hard to put this together for your enjoyment! Freaking wow! How this came about, you may ask? I was sitting here practicing my piano pieces for my piano class and suddenly I wanted to check out youtube to watch others play instead of doing it myself. This is the first thing that popped up. Then I realized it was a mistake to have done so because I got extremely jealous! Here I am playing “Be Our Guest” form Beauty and the Beast, while this chick is just making things up at an incredible rate! I envy her, BUT it’s okay because I’m practicing to get better! Someday, someday I will be like her! Haha, who am I kidding. Anyway, please bask in her talent!

I have discovered today that I have spent far too long away from home and I am extremely home sick. Do you ever have one of those days where you can’t stop thinking about spending time with your family? That’s all I’ve been able to think about today so I figured, why not blog about it right? I’m a Musical Theatre major here at WWCC and right now we’re working on opening a play this coming weekend. With all the rehearsals and everything there has been no time to go home for a weekend. Sometimes you just need your mom right? I am in one of those times, but no worries! She’s coming to see me next weekend! :] The point is, it’s okay to feel homesick, nothing to be ashamed about.

Has everyone enjoyed their Halloween weekend? I can say that I sure did, but don’t fret, we still have another day to celebrate! I just love Halloween! Having a reason to dress up as crazy as you can and no body looks at you funny? What a great day. There’s also candy and scary things everywhere! I think my favorite part about Halloween is watching all of the scary movies. I love scary movies, but most of my friends do not, but on Halloween they give in and we enjoy.

At the college every year the little kids come in their costumes and walk through the halls as a little parade. So precious! One of my professor’s kids were in it so my class got to go out and watch them walk by and hand them candy. Some of the things people come up with these days for costumes is amazing! From princesses to monsters and transformers! So much fun! Anyway, Happy Halloween everybody!!

Has anybody seen the new Paranormal Activity? I was terrified when I watched the first two and I can’t wait to see the third! How scary is it? Better than the first ones? I love scary movies! They’re a good time, but not a lot of my friends like to watch them with me which is a bummer. I just love the feeling of being scared and all tense, not knowing what’s coming next. I eat that stuff up!

People of Western Wyoming Community College, the Theatre and Dance Department is presenting Connections:Dream! It opens tomorrow, October 20, 2011 at 7:30 in the theatre. It will be playing all weekend with an additional show on Friday at 12:30. Go see it!!! It’s going to be amazing! These talented and beautiful ladies have been working really hard to put this together, so go have a good time listening to beautiful music!

All through my Jr. High and High School years, all of my teachers always pounded into our minds to not procrastinate. I never really took that to heart and I wish I had! I always put things off until the very last second, then I get all sorts of stressed out about everything I have to get done in a tiny period of time. It really is no fun for anyone! Learn now and make a habbit of forcing yourself to do things early, it will make life so much easier.

Spirit Day!:

My good friend Tasha Newman has informed me about “Spirit Day”. It’s a day to wear purple, like Erase the Hate day, and support all the kids out there who get bullied. There is more information about it on this Facebook link, so check it out.

Also, Tasha will be at a table in the Atrium at the school on Thursday October 20th passing out some pamphlets, candy, and ribbons. It will be a good time so remember to stop by when passing!! :]

People may wonder, “What in the world is there to do it Rock Springs, Wyoming?” I tell you now that it is possible to have great time here! I admit that there isn’t a lot of stuff to do in town, but you have to “look beyond what you see.” (Lion King 1 1/2) Out there in the wild there are tons of places to have bonfires, you can go cliff jumping in the Gorge, there are caves to explore, and wild horses to chase! What more do you need? Just get out and explore, be adventurous!

Well for my first post, I wanted to get the word out about Erase Hate Day. My friend posted this on his Facebook wall and I think it is an awesome thing to support.

Erase Hate Day is a day created in honor of Matthew Shepard, who, on October 7th, 1998 was tied to a split-rail fence and beaten to death by two men simply because he was a homosexual. Help spread the word that hate gets us nowhere! All over, spread love and peace and let everyone know that we can make the world a better place if we just ERASE THE HATE!

WEAR PURPLE AND WRITE ERASE HATE ON YOUR ARMS TO SPREAD OUR MESSAGE. WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
